РусскийIn December 2015 the Creative Industries and Cultural Toruism Development Fund received a grant from the Ministry of culture of the Republic of Karelia for the implementation of a Russian-Finnish project called “Northern Paradise”. The key partners of this action are the Center of cultural initiatives and the Artists’ Association of Joensuu.
Northern Paradise is an art project that brings together young artists from the Republic of Karelia (Russia) and North Karelia (Finland). The project builds on local nature, culture and history of Karelia as an image of an ideal place for creative people, i.e. the paradise for artists.
The project will take place on both sides of the border. It will be launched with a series of seminars in February 2016 for young artists on project thinking and art work as a project. In March 2016 a call for participation in the project will be launched and 10 artists from Karelia and Finland will be selected. These young artists will participate in an art camp in August 2016 and undertake a field trip visiting natural monuments and cultural heritage sites located on Lake Onego. The second art camp will take place in Joensuu and the Koli national park in North Karelia region, Finland. An exhibition will follow as the main result of the project that will be featured in Petrozavodsk, Joensuu, Moscow and Helsinki.
